So that, it is understandable this cost...Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04143697391171947938noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27659513.post-38919845733982868292007-06-16T02:18:00.000+03:002007-06-16T02:18:00.000+03:00@Ramy, really Good luck. :DI knew (or better say h...@Ramy, really Good luck. :D

I knew (or better say heard) about multi-touch technology since long ago also.. :)
However, about Microsoft surface, all I was know about it just the video I putted in my last comment until Microsoft has announced about it.

There are many researches about multi-touch tech have made by many ppl & many media labs; ex. I found a research by MIT - made in 1999 :D.. also Jeff Han and of course Microsoft research.

I just want to say that there are a big different between ideas (researches) & products.

The idea is to get these ideas & researches out of the lab and get it mass-produced; this is what Microsoft has done.
In addition, as Ramy said, Microsoft used .Net Framework to build the applications used by this surface, this is really COOL ;).Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04143697391171947938noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27659513.post-16869767401794237492007-06-15T23:10:00.000+03:002007-06-15T23:10:00.000+03:00@Ramy...It's not Ms R&D...Jeff Han the man behind ...@Ramy...

It's not Ms R&D...Jeff Han the man behind Ms Surface (the Asian looking guy) is from NYU's (New York University) Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences
http://www.cims.nyu.edu/

Here's his first presntation about "multi-touch interface design" which Ms Surface is an application of!!
http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/65

&

Here's his bio on TED talks http://www.ted.com/index.php/speakers/view/id/65

I've seen this presentation long long ago almost the same week I posted this http://shadym.blogspot.com/2007/02/ted-talks.htmlShady M. If you haven't checked out the online videos of it yet, I highly recommend watching them here. It is one of those products that looks and feels like it comes from a science fiction movie - but it is actually real.

Popular Mechanics also has a good article (including their own video) of how it works that you can read and watch online here.

One of the really cool things about Microsoft Surface is that the table UI experience is built entirely using WPF and the .NET Framework - which is a great statement about the power of what WPF provides.

http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2007/05/30/
microsoft-surface-and-wpf.aspxRamy Mahroushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06875204608099539248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27659513.post-8052344502801962342007-06-01T05:10:00.000+03:002007-06-01T05:10:00.000+03:00http://www.metacafe.com/watch/618189/microsoft_sur...http://www.metacafe.com/watch/618189/microsoft_surface_computing_the_power/
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/618226/microsoft_surface_computing_the_possibilities/
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/617890/microsoft_surface_computing_the_magic/Ramy Mahroushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06875204608099539248noreply@blogger.com
